DUSU Elections 2025: Result Trends & Highlights

Delhi University held its Students’ Union elections on 18 September 2025, with counting of votes starting on 19 September. Four main central panel posts were being contested: President, Vice President, Secretary, and Joint Secretary.

Key Data & Turnout

  • Around 2.75 lakh students across 50+ colleges were eligible to vote.

  • Voting happened at 52 centres, with 195 booths using 711 EVMs

  • Final voter turnout was approximately 39.45%

Candidate Highlights

  • President: Aryan Maan (ABVP) is the ABVP’s candidate for President.

  • Main opposition in the President race: Joslyn Nandita Choudhary (NSUI), and Anjali (SFI-AISA alliance).

Counting & Trends

As counting has progressed (by various rounds), ABVP candidates are leading in three of the four key posts, while NSUI has a strong lead in the Vice President post. These leads are after mid-rounds of counting (e.g. after 6-8 rounds).

Specific numbers  show:

  • ABVP’s Aryan Maan pulling ahead in President race. (mint)

  • ABVP also leading in Secretary and Joint Secretary post.

  • NSUI’s candidate is ahead in the Vice President post in many rounds.

Observations & What’s at Stake

  • The election is seen as a major indicator of student sentiment around issues like hostel accommodation, student safety, fee relief, and implementation of new education policies.

  • The contest is mainly between ABVP and NSUI, but smaller parties / alliances are present and contributing to the debate.

  • There is increased scrutiny on turnout and student engagement, given the turnout is still under 40%, though higher than some previous years.

What’s Not Final Yet

  • As of the last reports, final declaration of winners for all four posts was still pending. Counting in 18-20 rounds was expected.

  • Some posts have clear ABVP advantage, others are close. The Vice President seat seems likely to go to NSUI, given current lead in that post.

Conclusion

The DUSU Elections 2025 are trending strongly in the favour of ABVP, which holds leads in three major posts: President, Secretary, and Joint Secretary. NSUI, however, is performing best in the Vice President’s race. With about 40% turnout, the vote reflects significant student involvement and interest. The full results are expected once vote counting completes, but the emerging pattern indicates ABVP is set to dominate the student body this year.
